LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL – The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) held their annual Driving Your Business Plan Competition on September 23rd at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The purpose of NAWBO Orlando Foundation is to promote entrepreneurship of women in the local Central Florida community through education, training, mentoring and coaching activities.

Through participation in this competition, members increase exposure for themselves and their businesses through speaking, media, and tradeshow opportunities. They are also able to gain exposure outside the community by attending national events where NAWBO members interact with other entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, and influential community leaders.

The competition allows a select group of women business owners, both entrepreneurs in emerging businesses and those with established businesses, to create and present a business plan. Once they present their plans in front of a panel of judges, one winner from each category is awarded with capital support, professional mentorship, marketing services, educational programs, and community services during the following year. These opportunities allow them to expand their businesses and grow as professionals.

This year’s winner in the emerging business category was Suneera Madhani, founder of fattmerchant, an innovative credit card processing company that allows companies access to credit card processing at direct cost. In the established category, Deanna Bufo Novak featured her company Kids Heritage, Inc. Deanna is the author of 2 children’s books, My Heritage Book and ABCs Around the World. Her innovative storytelling and business savvy led her to Walt Disney World where she currently sells her Heritage Book at The American Adventure in EPCOT’s World Showcase.
