Hispanic Heritage Scholarship Fund Promotes Higher Education for local students

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.  – Community and business leaders gathered to honor the 2014 Hispanic Heritage Scholarship fund recipients at this year’s celebratory dinner at Disney’s Contemporary Resort on October 25, 2014, where Walt Disney World Resort was a Title sponsor. Cast Members from Walt Disney World were in attendance, including Lourdes Mola and Betty Lowery, Managers of Corporate Citizenship.

This annual event recognizes exceptional students from Central Florida’s Hispanic community and helps raise funds for additional scholarships to support the dreams of local students of Hispanic heritage. Since the Hispanic Heritage Scholarship Fund of Metro Orlando was established in 2000, the organization has given more than $800,000 in scholarships to more than 200 Central Florida students. Furthermore, for the first time since its establishment, the fund this year awarded scholarships to 30 students.

“Walt Disney World recognizes the value of an educated workforce. We have supported the Hispanic Heritage Scholarship Fund for almost 15 years because they are committed to helping Hispanic students reach their goals of higher education. They are lending a hand to the development of the future leaders of the Hispanic community in Central Florida”, said Lourdes Mola, Manager of Corporate Citizenship and board member of the Hispanic Heritage Scholarship Fund.

The Hispanic Heritage Scholarship Fund of Metro Orlando is the largest non-profit in Central Florida committed to providing scholarships to college and university students of Hispanic heritage.
