Lake Buena Vista, FL – Dec. 15, 2015 – Creativity, family togetherness and fun were on full display in the Disney Kids & Family Zone as nearly 2,500 Osceola County residents attended the inaugural El Parrandón Dec. 13 in Kissimmee.

Observing the Latin American Christmas celebration where families and friends visit from house to house, La Prensa Orlando held a free El Parrandón at the Plaza del Sol for the community to enjoy.

“El Parrandón is a wonderful holiday tradition that is as fun for a handful of families as it is for a whole community,” said Dora Casanova, CEO and publisher of La Prensa Orlando. “It was heartwarming and fun to come together in a safe environment at no cost to local families.”

Participants enjoyed face painting, music, food, meeting Santa and more in booths in the mall. In the Disney Kids & Family Zone, former Walt Disney World Ambassador Vanessa Rosas brought company greetings, and she and Disney VoluntEARS engaged attendees at creativity, conservation, community and healthy living stations in the zone.

“The Disney Kids & Family Zone allows us to share the joy of the holiday season and magic of Disney with the community not only at the holidays but throughout the year,” said Betty Lowery, corporate citizenship manager for Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney has long supported La Prensa, the oldest Hispanic media publication in Central Florida. The company sponsors La Prensa’s annual Mujeres Destacadas, which honors extraordinary women who are making  a difference in our communities.
