LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., Aug. 21, 2015 – The creativity, talent and community spirit of nearly 200 Disney Cast Members were in the spotlight recently as the Encore! Cast Performing Arts group presented Aida in Concert,” raising more than $16,000 to benefit the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts

Sharing their passion for music, theater and their community, Encore! held two performances last month in the Walt Disney Theater at the Dr. Phillips Center, benefitting the art center’s mission of promoting arts and culture in Central Florida. As one of the largest clubs for Disney Cast Members, Encore! brings together hundreds of performers from a variety of backgrounds and roles at Walt Disney World Resort.

“We’re inspired by the ongoing support Walt Disney World Resort and its Cast Members have pledged to the Dr. Phillips Center,” said Kathy Ramsberger, president and CEO of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. “The Encore! production was another example of Cast Members’ spirit of generosity and enthusiasm for the arts in Central Florida.”

For months prior to the show, Cast Members balanced their wide-ranging Disney roles with their Encore! roles as singers, actors, dancers and behind-the-scenes contributors.

“Encore’s Broadway-style performances showcase the artistic flair and teamwork of our Cast Members,” said Nancy Gidusko, director of corporate citizenship for Walt Disney World Resort.

Since 2002, Encore! members have devoted their time and talents to present more than 15 charity concerts, which have raised nearly $250,000 for local nonprofits. These annual summer concerts offer Cast Members an outlet for creativity and expression, as well as the chance to make a difference for the arts in their community.

In 2011, Encore! selected the Dr. Phillips Center as the beneficiary of proceeds from its summer concert, making the club a founding donor of the arts center. In addition, Walt Disney World Resort pledged $12.5 million in financial and in-kind support to the arts center, Central Florida’s newest cultural gem.
