LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. April 6, 2018 – More than 1,000 African American women leaders and executives recently gathered at the Walt Disney World Resort for the 13th annual Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit. The event highlighted industry leaders through professional development workshops and sessions about business and leadership trends.
Fostering engagement with diverse women in business, the Disney-sponsored event provided development opportunities and insights on culture, technology, marketing, leadership skills and other topics. Latondra Newtown, senior vice president and chief diversity officer for The Walt Disney Company, welcomed attendees to Walt Disney World Resort at the Legacy Awards, which serves as the kickoff for each summit and honors women who have made history in a variety of fields.
As part of the event, which coincided with the opening weekend for Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time, director Ava DuVernay greeted attendees in a video message and Disney presented each attendee with a Fandango code for a ticket to see the film. The summit’s closing event was an exclusive Festival of the Lion King performance, followed by dinner and an opportunity to experience Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
